Award-winning journalist April Woodard was named 2020 professor of the year at Scripps Howard School. She was honored this week at Hampton University’s Faculty Institute, which occurs each semester before the students return to class.

Woodard, an Emmy-nominated television personality and media coach, was given the honor because of her work with students during the Coronavirus pandemic, which included her virtual learning efforts.

April spent 12 years on the nationally syndicated newsmagazine, Inside Edition. Today she is co-host of Coast Live’s Morning Show in Hampton Roads. She has been an assistant professor for more than seven years.

She worked on the BET series, Criminals at Work, and was featured on BET and BET International networks hosting the shows, Mad Swagg and Music Around the Globe.

She co-hosted A Conversation with President Obama for Viacom, MTV and CMT.

April Woodard, who is a graduate of the University of Virginia, and her husband, Adrian, pastor of Favor Nation Church, own and operate their media company, FAVOR Multimedia Inc.
