Digital Media, Animation Courses Puts Hampton's SHSJC at the Cutting Edge

HAMPTON, Va. — (Aug. 22, 2017) Hampton University’s Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications (SHSJC) is putting its students on the path to working in Hollywood production houses and Silicon Valley firms with new Digital Media Innovation and Animation & Motion Graphics classes.

These new class offerings will be taught by Willie Moore (see photo, right), a former consultant with the Capital Children’s Museum in Washington, D.C., and a former professor of radio, television and film. Known industry wide as an expert in animation, game design, conceptual storytelling, digital editing and motion graphics, Moore will teach these skills as the leader of SHSJC’s Center for Innovation in Digital Media as well as the Digital Genius Project. Moore holds the Master’s and Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degrees -- both from the University of Cincinnati.

“The Animation and Motion Graphics classes will include skills in rotoscope and compositing,” said Moore. “The Digital Media Innovation classes will include storytelling storyboards and animatics UX experience design.”

"The Digital Media Innovation and Animation & Motion Graphics classes provide much needed information and essential skill sets needed in the ever evolving world of digital media,” said B. Da’Vida Plummer, Dean of the SHSJC. “Our new courses continue to prove that the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications on the campus of Hampton University is a digital mecca for multi-platform production.”
