Scripps Howard Advisory Board Co-Chair and 2002 Graduate Rashida Jones Named President of MSNBC

Rashida Jones

MSNBC announced today that Scripps Howard Advisory Board Co-chair and 2002 Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications graduate Rashida Jones will become president of MSNBC starting February 1st, and the current president, Phil Griffin, will step down after 25 years at the cable news channel.

Jones' promotion is the first major executive appointment from NBCUniversal News Group Chairman Cesar Conde and comes after he announced a goal earlier this year for the staff of NBC news to be made up of 50 percent women and 50 percent people of color. He did not put a deadline on the initiative.
