April Woodard, Assistant Professor for Hampton University Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications, Nominated for an Emmy Award
HAMPTON, Va. (May 17, 2018) - April Woodard, an Assistant Professor in the Hampton University Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications, has been nominated for an Emmy® Award for her work as a co-host on Coast Live on WTKR, and for hosting the Norfolk Christmas parade, among other events throughout the year. This year’s 60th Emmy® Awards, which includes Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., will host a Gala to present the winners on Saturday, June 23, 2018 in Bethesda, MD.
Hampton University President Dr. William R. Harvey commends and praises Woodard on her accomplishments in her professional career and is honored that she is part of the Hampton University family. “April has produced extraordinary work in her professional career and she empowers students on a daily basis to pursue their dreams,” Dr. Harvey said. “I am thrilled for April on her nomination and wish her all the luck in the world.”
Woodard is an award-winning journalist who worked as a correspondent for Inside Education and BET, and has appeared on network TV as a pop culture expert on HLN, MSNBC and FOX. She also co-hosted A Conversation with President Obama which was seen on other Viacom entities, MTV and CMT, and is the host, co-creator and co-executive producer of the digital entertainment show, The Media Brew.
