HAMPTON, Va. (April 19, 2019) – Student Coverage of the 2019 National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Region I Conference, April 12-14, 2019, which took place at the Hampton University Scripps Howard School of Journalism. This year’s theme was “Reclaiming Our Story: Guardians of Our History Since 1619 and The True Responsibility of Black Journalists Today.”

Participants saw the ins and outs of true journalism in 2019 and had the opportunity to tour the city as well as the campus.
The highlight of the conference was day two: Saturday. NABJ held a job fair for participants, mainly students. The day was all about networking and bettering yourself as a professional journalist. There were panels, workshops and job interviews that kept participants moving the entire day.
Students and professional journalists alike agreed the conference was educational, informational and fulfilling.
