Troutman Secures Position with Burson-Marsteller, LLC

Joi Troutman, a Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications (SHSJC) Class of 2010 graduate, has been hired as a Client Executive with Burson-Marsteller, LLC - a premier public relations and communications firm with offices located worldwide.

A former public relations major, Troutman began her career journey as an INROADS Training and Development intern for the UnitedHealth Group and as a Talent Acquisition intern for the Mars company.

From the Burson-Marsteller New York City office, Troutman will assist the Human Resources Department with sourcing entry-level professionals within the public relations industry; plan company-related events; facilitate special projects and support the firm's Summer Internship Program.

Troutman, armed with a solid public relations foundation gained while at SHSJC, is well-prepared for the challenge of working for such a prestigious organization. She recalls sound advice from one of her PR professors. "As Dr. Francis McDonald would say, ‘it's all about having your A game,'" said Troutman. "With the lessons, knowledge and rules of thumb I've acquired from my professors and peers within SHSJC, I'm going to bring my 'A+ game' to Burson-Marsteller."

According to its website, Burson-Marsteller, founded in 1953, provides customized program development for its clients, ensuring that corporate and brand reputations are strong and well-respected. The company is a leader in the disciplines of public relations, public affairs, digital media, advertising, and other communications services. In 2009, the firm won three coveted PRSA Silver Anvil Awards of Excellence in the categories of Public Affairs, Global Communications and Events and Observances.
