More than 50 Scripps Howard students and faculty will embark on a day trip to Washington, D.C. on Wed., March 30 to visit Capitol Hill, the National Geographic Society, CBS News, Voice of America and BET Networks for the school’s annual “Media Day.” The trip will allow students the chance to gain exposure to various media environments and leaders.
At the U.S. Capitol, students will tour and meet members of the Congressional Press Corps, and at National Geographic, students will see Black History and presidential photographers’ exhibits. Students also will tour Voice of America and BET Networks to get a behind-the-scenes perspective of television and radio broadcasting services, in addition to meeting the working staff. Prof. Sheila Douglas, who teaches the school’s online public relations course, is the organizer of the trip.
