Celebrated Advertising Agency to Visit Scripps Howard School
The Martin Agency, an award-winning advertising agency headquartered in
Richmond, Va., will visit Hampton University’s Scripps Howard School
of Journalism and Communications on Tues., March 15. Danny Robinson, senior
vice president, creative director and Hampton alum, and Dr. Lauren Tucker,
director of consumer forensics, will answer questions and speak to students
about the advertising industry.
Featured seminars will include “The Advertising Process” from
11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and “Consumer Research and Minorities in Advertising” from
2 to 3:15 p.m. in the R.P. Scripps Auditorium. Each session will allow time
for an open discussion between executives and students. All Scripps Howard
students are encouraged to attend.
Robinson is a co-founder of Vigilante, one of the first agencies to specialize
in transforming urban insights into advertising and communications. He wrote
and directed the first television commercials for Jay-Z, Foxy Brown and Samuel
L. Jackson, as well as served as the creative leader and writer behind award-winning
campaigns for Sprint and Major League Baseball. A recent recipient of the
2010 “One Club/AdColor Award” for creative excellence, Robinson
has applied his skill at The Martin Agency to brands such as AOL, SIRIUS
Satellite Radio and Tylenol.
Tucker has had a variety of industry and educational experience in advertising.
With a wealth of experience at various agencies, she has served in strategic
planning for clients such as Michelin, Bacardi, Washington Mutual, Daimler
Chrysler and Kellogg’s. An academician, Dr. Tucker has conducted advertising
research throughout her career and served as a tenured professor in advertising
and communications at the University of South Carolina. A recipient of the
American Advertising Foundation’s James S. Fish Advertising Education
Award, Dr. Tucker is the director of The Martin Agency’s Forensic Division.
