Drew Berry is the two-time Emmy Award-winning President of Drew Berry & Associates, LLC, which is a media consulting agency. Berry is a visiting professional teaching media management and works with students and faculty on the WHOV Newscast. Berry is the Executive Consultant for the National Association of Black Journalist, acting as its Executive Director. He is a Comcast/NBC diversity advisory committee member and consults news organizations and numerous journalists across the country. Berry’s has more than 25 years of experience in the television news industry in numerous markets including New York City, Philadelphia, Dallas, Atlanta and New Orleans. He won his Emmys in his role as news director for CBS in Philadelphia. He was one of about a dozen black General Managers in the country running major television stations during his tenure at the ABC-TV affiliate in Baltimore.
Berry's experience includes teaching and practicing journalism as well as major involvement on various boards and committees. He has been a visiting professional lecturing at not only Hampton University, but at Morgan State University, Ohio University and the Poynter Institute. He has helped judge journalism's prestigious duPont Awards, Scripps Howard Journalism Awards and regional Emmys. He has held positions on many boards including, Scripps Howard Foundation, Medstar Health, Inc., the Greater Baltimore Committee, Associated Black Charities and the Maryland Humanities Council.
A native Texan, Berry grew up in Dallas and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Radio, Television and Film from the University of Texas at Austin.
