12th Annual Scripps Day at Hampton University

Hampton, Va. (October 17, 2014) - Hampton University will be hosting its 12th annual Scripps Day on October 20, 2014. This year's theme is "Media Innovation and Change." This event will serve as a platform for students to network with media professionals and receive valuable information about the evolving media landscape. It will also provide information about internships and job opportunities.

Qualifying students will participate in a "Top Intern" contest where they will be able to win a $3,500 scholarship. Members of the E.W. Scripps Company will participate in the event as keynote speakers and panelists. They will also judge the internship competition. Speakers and panelists include Ellen Weiss, Vice President and Washington Bureau Chief and Sean McLaughlin, Vice President of News for E.W. Scripps.

Scripps Day will include several panel discussions such as "The Power of Multi- Platform Communications." This event will also feature several breakout sessions on the following topics: Strategic Communications and Branding, Journalists Now and in the Future, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The day will finish with a closing reception.

Students will have the opportunity to interview on-site for jobs and internships. Dozens of Scripps Howard students successfully launched their careers in Scripps facilities across the country over the last 12 years.
