Dr. Mavis Carr is a digital media professional who brings her management, marketing and public relations industry experience to the classroom. A former online producer for companies such as Nickelodeon and Cox, Dr. Carr served as one of the first producers for the DailyXpress, the Daily Press’ first online ventures, now known as dailypress.com. While at Cox, she designed coordinated activities, using television, radio, print and online tactics, targeted to promote the company's products and services.
A native of Harlem in New York City, Dr. Carr graduated from the high school best known for its portrayal in the movie "Fame." She received her Associate’s degree while living in Germany from the University of Maryland, a Bachelor’s degree from St. Leo University and her Master of Business Administration degree from Averett University. She earned her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix.
Dr. Carr teaches Introduction to Visual Media, Public Relations Writing and Production and Introduction to Media Writing.
