Francis C. McDonald, Ph.D., APR, is a seasoned public relations professional who brings many years of governmental, industrial, and educational experience to the marketplace. His background includes service as a senior public relations coordinator with Newport News Shipbuilding, a former department head for the City of Norfolk, (VA), an assistant professor at Norfolk State University, an adjunct professor at Christopher Newport University, and currently serves as the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs and Assistant Professor in the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications at Hampton University. He is also President of J&F Productions, Inc., where he consults organizations on developing and implementing audio/visual/and video services to support their communication needs.
His professional experiences include writing and editing publications; producing multi–media shows and special events; and coordinating the design, installation and operation of audio/visual/video production equipment.
He was appointed by the Public Relations Society of America in 1995 and 1996 to chair its Multicultural Affairs Committee. His outstanding leadership twice earned him PRSA’s Presidential Citation Award. He served two, three-year terms on PRSA’s Board of Ethics and Professional Standards. He earned a BA degree in mass media arts from Hampton (Institute) University (Hampton, VA), the MA degree in journalism from The Ohio State University (Columbus, OH) and the Ph.D. degree in Communication from Regent University (Virginia Beach, VA). He is an accredited public relations professional (APR).
