Dr. Mavis Carr is a digital media professional who brings her administration, management, marketing and public relations industry experience to the classroom. A former online producer and manager for companies such as Nickelodeon, Cox Interactive Media and Cox Business, Dr. Carr served as one of the first producers for the DailyXpress, the Daily Press’ first online ventures, now known as dailypress.com. While at Cox, she designed coordinated activities, using television, radio, print and online tactics, targeted to promote the company's products and services. At Scripps Howard, she has taught web design, visual communication, public relations writing, business journalism, grammar and Associated Press style writing and media research.

A native of Harlem in New York City, Dr. Carr graduated from the high school best known for its portrayal in the movie "Fame." She received her Associate’s degree while living in Germany from the University of Maryland; a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administation from St. Leo University; a Master of Business Administration degree from Averett University and the doctorate in Educational Leadership with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix.

Dr. Carr is the Scripps Howard School's Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs.
