Prof. Mavis Carr is a digital media native who brings her management and public relations industry experience to the classroom. A former online producer for companies such as Nickelodeon and Cox, Prof. Carr served as one of the first producers for the DailyXpress, the Daily Press’ first online ventures, now known as dailypress.com.
A native of Harlem in New York City, Prof. Carr graduated from the high school best known for its portrayal in the movie "Fame." She received her Associate’s degree while living in Germany from the University of Maryland, a Bachelor’s degree from St. Leo University and her Master’s in Business Administration from Averett University. She is currently pursuing her doctorate degree in Educational Leadership with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction.
Prof. Carr teaches Introduction to Visual Media, Public Relations Writing and Production, and Introduction to Media Writing.
